Life in Penang

Image
Living in Penang Hello, this is Nat. I'm currently staying and studying in Jitra, Kedah. But before coming to Polimas, my entire life was on Penang. I was born in Kedah, but my parents are working on Penang Island so my family stayed there for nearly 2 decades.  I went to middle school and high school in Penang, so most of my friends are there. I want to say Penang is second to Kuala Lumpur in that, it's quite a developed state. I might be wrong since there's Johor, a state close to Singapore. Penang has a lot of tourist attractions. You got Penang Hill, Botanical Garden, Batu Ferringhi, Kek Lok Si Temple and a lot more. It's a fun place to travel. Although, traffic can be problem sometimes, it doesn't hurt to try.  The food is also great, mostly a lot of hawker stalls and kopitiams near my house in Penang. There's even cool shopping malls to go to. In conclusion, Penang is a very nice state to stay or travel to. Try going there some day.

Tokusatsu

Tokusatsu Hi! It's me, Nat, here with another blog. Today's topic is about Tokusatsu. You might be wondering "What is Tokusatsu?" Well, I feel like you already know it yourself! Wiki states that "Tokusatsu is a Japanese term for live action film or television series that makes heavy use of practical effects. Perfect examples of Tokusatsu media would be Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Godzilla, Super Sentai (or Power rangers as it's called) and much more with a smaller fan community.  Why I'm talking about Tokusatsu? Well it's because I grew up with it. I remember as a kid, whenever I go to a shop that sells CDs, I would always look out for Kamen Rider, Super Sentai and Ultraman. They were my favs to watch.  Now that I've grown up. . . nope! Nothing much changed. I still watch these medias (mainly kamen rider) because they are quite entertaining. Great story and awesome fighting choreography.  Ultraman Super Sentai (Power Rangers) Kamen Rider

My time in Orchestra

Image
My time in orchestra Good morning! And if I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening and good night! Today I want to talk about my time in the orchestra. I joined my highschool's orchestra, well, during Form 1. On the day I joined, I just came in through the cl ub's doors and the instructor told me to play the bass. The double bass to be specific. Actually, going into orchestra, I didn't know what musical instrument I wanted to play, but if it's a rarely played instrument, fine by me. It's a big instrument, like you need to stand while you play it in orchestra. I've been playing for 5 - 6 years now, although I still can't quite master it but I can play well in the orchestra Oh yeah, during my 5 - 6 years of playing, I get to go to Genting Highlands for the Malaysia International Music Arts Festival (MIMAF). From 2017 till 2019, I had fun memories of  Now that I've entered Polimas, It's quite hard to go back to the orchestra life. But thankful...

Growing up with the Internet

Image
Growing up with the Internet Yo yo yo, it's ya boi, Nat from the Polimas, back again with another blog. This time I'll be talking about my childhood with the Internet. Every time when I got back from school, I would go back home, eat lunch, shower blah blah blah, and then turn on the computer. The computer was really an amazing invention. It allows you to browse the Internet, especially YouTube. YouTube was my number one favorite platform. Flash games were my second. Usually what I watched at YouTube were. . . games! Youtubers like DanTDM, Markiplier, 8-BitRyan were ones I frequently watch because they are so inspiring to the younger generation like me.  Well of course there's other stuff to watch on YouTube, but I was watching freely. Games and youtubers playing games were the most fun times. I smiled and laughed and as I grew up, so did they. Flash games though, they are pretty fun too. There's a game called Papa's Pizzeria and many more games with Papa's in ...

Favorite Foods

My favorite food| Yo, Nat here, back again. On today's topic, I'll be talking about my favorite food. Currently I'm living in Malaysia and Malaysia is known for it's multiracial society. So of course there's different cultures living together aaaand different cultures mean a large variety of food! Now, let's just get right to it. I like Nasi Kerabu. Nasi Kerabu has blue-colored rice (which is rice cooked with butterfly peas) with herbs, veggies, anchovy sauce as the basis and then you can add chicken, egg, curry and many more. Another food I like is Laksam, a more underappreciated food than the Laksa. Both are same and different. Same as they are rice noodles prepared in a coconut broth with sour asam. They are soo delicious to eat and I am so happy that every Saturday, I get to choose either one of these mouth-watering delicacies at the night market for my dinner. Nasi Kerabu Laksam

Tobe! Gundam

Image
Fly! Gundam! Yo, this is Nat here. Another Tuesday comes another shootout session in the English Club. This time, Khairul, one of the members came prepared. He brought a toy figure called Gundam. I regretted keeping quiet during his talk as I too am a Gundam nerd.  Like, I love Gundam since my childhood. I first knew about Gundam from my cousin who was playing a PS2 game waaaaaaaaaay back. I love it when robots had cool wings and weapons. But during middle school and early high school years, Gundam was completely out of my mind as, well, YouTube was taking over my life. But at 17, I remembered all of my favorite childhood memories, like Gundam.  So on 2021, I finally bought my first ever Gundam figure. It was the HG Strike Freedom Gundam. Now it's 2023 and I'm still continuing my collection. I hope for more news about new figures and media about Gundam. My first Gundam
